Nevermore

Legend's Ghost is working on a new album titled Nevermore! With a name like that, it shouldn't take too much imagination to guess what the theme is!
Edgar Allan Poe has long been considered an important part of the canon of all things unsettling, mysterious, and gothic. As an artist who spent a lot of the early 2010s immersed in the goth/metal scene in Ecuador, I thought it would be cool to set some of his works to music. As I continued to work on these pieces, I started wondering what slightly unexpected angles I could look at them from. Could "The Conqueror Worm" include the worm's point of view? Could "Dream Within a Dream" be about someone in an impending natural disaster?
I also decided to take a more classical direction with this album than I did with Gatekeepers. While there will be at least one symphonic metal track, most of the pieces will be more like classical chamber works. Part of this decision is simply because I like seeing what I can do with a small group of instruments that could play at an intimate candlelight gathering.
This decision is also partly in response to the growing presence of AI generated art and the concerns surrounding it. While I am not opposed to the idea of using technology to create certain effects, the idea that someone can create a whole work of art with no more input than just a few clicks of a mouse, using a machine that "learned" art by stealing existing works of art without the artist's consent, is deeply disturbing to me. I wanted to create something that can be performed live by human musicians with as little interference from technology as possible.
That's not to say I'll never do a piece with a bunch of synths and effects again! It's just that for this album, I wanted to give it a more timeless, more acoustic, more "definitely made by humans" feel.
So far, one single has been released from Nevermore, titled "The Raven". Listen to it here: https://legendsghost.bandcamp.com/track/the-raven
